INFORMATION

COMMERCIAL OPERATION: 2010

INSTALLED CAPACITY: 830 MW

NUMBER OF UNITS: 2 (418 MW/unit)

FUEL: Natural Gas

The Pego Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) with a total installed capacity of 830 MW, comprises two units of 418 MW (net), single shaft trains, each using a Benson type HRSG.

The project included the design, construction, commissioning, operation and ownership of the Pego CCGT, that achieved full commercial operation in 2011. The site is wholly contained within the ring fence of Pego's Thermal Power Plant, beside the existing Unit 2. It shares some common facilities with Pego, such as the site access and security, firefighting plant, some environmental monitoring plant, auxiliary boiler plant, raw water supply, demineralised water plant, water and waste water treatment plants, etc.

This power plant was designed to provide safe, highly reliable and efficient electricity generation, while minimising noise and greenhouse gases emissions. Precision monitoring of emissions, noise levels and air quality are carried out regularly.

Low NOx burners are in place in order to reduce these greenhouse gas emissions, ensuring an adequate environmental performance.

The Pego CCGT is operated by ElecGás. Pegop is responsible for the maintenance of the Pego CCGT.
